Friends of The Johnston School of Irish Dance

Mission Statement

Our mission is to support and promote the heritage and culture of Irish Dance for the Johnston School. In addition, we provide fundraising and volunteer support to the School.The Friends of the Johnston School of Irish Dance has several standing committees including:

• Costumes- this committee keeps a tally of all danceout and school costumes, organizes the used and new clothing apparel sales, acts as liaison with our seamstress contacts for school costumes for teams and individual dancers.  Solo costumes to be purchased for the dancers can be purchased from anywhere, but should be approved by Ann prior to purchase.
• Finance-this committee oversees the budgets of the Friends of the Johnston School, and keeps detailed records of all fundraisers, donations, corporate sponsorships, etc., for the School.  All payouts from these donations and fundraisers are issued by this committee with the approval of Ann Johnston-Sullivan.
• Fundraising-this committee organizes the many different fundraising activities of the School, including candy sales, bottle drives, hooleys, dance recitals, the lottery, and other fundraising opportunities that arise throughout the year.  Proceeds from these fundraisers go to support the travel fund, dance camps, and the operating needs of the school.
• Grants & Corporate Sponsorships-this committee solicits grants and sponsorships from foundations and private businesses for the purpose of supplementing the travel fund, dance camps, school costumes, and the operating needs of the school.
• Dance Outs -this committee assists Patty Wilsch in the organization of the local dance outs that the dancers perform to support the school.  The goal is to educate the audience on Irish Culture through dance, discussion and music.
• Membership-this committee assists Patty Wilsch in the registration process of the school each year, maintains a schoolwide database and directory, and produces the school parents/dancers handbook with the assistance of the PR/Marketing Committee.
• PR/Marketing-this committee handles publicity and marketing for the School, including the publication of a quarterly newsletter, informational brochures, press releases, and promotion of all Johnston School activities.
• Website-this committee works with our website administrator (and dance Mom) Brenda Farrell to keep the website current and user friendly, to serve as the main source of information for all things Johnston School.
